He won a number of national titles over his rowing career and represented South Africa for nearly 10 years. The highlight of his career was a 5th place at the Sydney Olympics in the Men’s Lightweight Coxless Fours.
Ross rowed competitively from 1986 to 2010. He represented Germiston High School and Victoria Lake Rowing Club (now Victoria Lake University of Johannesburg Rowing club) both out of Germiston, South Africa.
His personal best time on the indoor rower for 2,000m is 6:05.9.
